3 - MEM30205 Certificate III in Engineering - Production Systems (Mechanical Engineering)

This Certificate III course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to become a fully qualified production tradesperson in the area of mechanical engineering and fabrication.

As well as acquiring these trade skills, you will also develop a sound knowledge of workplace communication, occupational health and safety, quality procedures, systems and planning, engineering measurements, computations and computer technology plus industry specific skills in production or process areas relevant to your employment.

Students may primarily be engaged in activities including:

  • set up and operation of engines, boilers and like equipment
  • use stationary and mobile plant and Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machine processes
  • foundry processes and furnace operation
  • packaging machines, surface finishing, and production welding processes

Delivery Mode

The Certificate III course is delivered over a nominal term of 36 months with assessment conducted on the job by an Axial trainer on a regular and agreed schedule.

Assessment Requirements

Assessment will consist of individual or clustered competencies in a single visit, whereby the student will display their theoretical and practical ability to a standard where the trainer can deem them competent.

With your trade qualification in hand, you could work for a wide range of companies across Australia in interesting locations and work environments.

Employment opportunities vary from being part of a production team for a large company to working for a small engineering workshop that undertakes different types of work for industrial customers.
