Queensland Funding Programs

Axial is proud to offer access to the following Queensland Government funding programs:

Career Start

The Career Start program provides individuals with the skills and support to start their career.  Funding is offered under either a general pathway or employment-based apprenticeship or traineeship pathway.

Under Career Start, you may be able to access:

  • A general qualification at certificate III and an apprenticeship/traineeship (noting that if the apprenticeship/traineeship is done first, you are no longer eligible to access general training under Career Start); OR
  • Two apprenticeships/traineeships at either certificate II or III, including school based apprenticeships or traineeships.

The eligibility criteria for each pathway is:

General Training

  • You must be aged 15 years or older;
  • You must not be a school student;
  • You must permanently reside in Queensland;
  • You must be an Australian citizen, or Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), or a temporary resident with the right visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen;
  • You must not already have a certificate III or higher qualification completed within the last 10 years (qualifications completed as a school student and foundation skills qualifications do not count);
  • You must not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it is on hold or deferred, whether funded by DTET or not (foundation skills qualifications do not count).

Apprenticeship/Traineeship

  • You must have entered into a Contract (training contract) for a qualification that is funded by DTET and be registered on DTET’s training database;
  • If you are from overseas, you must have a visa allowing them to work in Australia; and
  • Not be enrolled in another qualification;
  • You must not have already completed two apprenticeship/traineeship qualifications (including SATs) within the last 10 years.

Career Boost

The Career Boost program aims to take you career to the next level, enabling you grow and apply your skills to existing or new job roles. Funding is offered under either a general pathway or employment-based apprenticeship or traineeship pathway.

Under Career Boost, you may be able to access:

  • one subsidised training place in either a certificate IV, diploma, or advanced diploma qualification under the general training pathway; OR
  • a higher level apprenticeship/traineeship at certificate IV or above; and
  • up to two subsidised skill sets in priority industries or sectors as part of the program.

The eligibility criteria for each pathway is:

 

General Training

  • You must be aged 15 years or older;

Note: This eligibility requirement does not apply to individuals seeking to enrol in a skill set;
  • You must not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it is on hold or deferred, whether funded by DTET or not (foundation skills qualifications do not count).

Apprenticeship/Traineeship

  • You must have entered into a Contract (training contract) for a qualification that is funded by DTET and be registered on DTET’s training database;
  • You must not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it is on hold or deferred, whether funded by DTET or not (foundation skills qualifications do not count).

1 These fees are a guideline only and may change based on elective choices, unit changes or Credit Transfers.

2 The eligibility criteria for the Partial Exemption Fee are:

  • The apprentice/trainee was or will be under 17 years of age at the end of February in the year in which training is provided and is not at school and has not completed year 12;
  • The apprentice/trainee holds a Health Care, Veteran or Pensioner Concession Card issued under Commonwealth law, or is the partner or a dependant of a person who holds such a card and is named on the card;
  • Holds an official form issued under Commonwealth law confirming that the individual, their partner or the person of whom they are a dependant, is entitled to concessions under a Health Care, Veteran or Pensioner Concession Card;
  • The apprentice/trainee identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. 

3 The eligibility criteria for the Partial Exemption Fee are:

  • The student holds a Health Care, Veteran or Pensioner Concession Card issued under Commonwealth law, or is the partner or a dependant of a person who holds such a card and is named on the card;
  • The student holds an official form issued under Commonwealth law confirming that the individual, their partner or the person of whom they are a dependant, is entitled to concessions under a Health Care, Veteran or Pensioner Concession Card;
  • The student identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander;
  • The student has a disability;
  • The student is an adult prisoner.
